Prisma Actuated Valves

Actuated valves with Prisma pneumatic actuators, actuators available either loose or fitted to ball or butterfly valves.

These actuators are manufactured in Spain.

The pneumatic actuators are available as double acting (air to open and air to close) or single acting (air to open and spring to close).

The actuators are made from rilsan coated aluminium (polyamide and stainless steel body available on request)

The Prisma pneumatic actuators are manufactured to meet the requirement of DEP 97-23-CE and ATEX 94-9-CE directive, ATEX EXII2GDT6 certification, conforms to ISO, DIN, DNV, PCT, SIL2.  All models have a NAMUR interface to accept a solenoid valve, and VDI/VDE 3845 norms for mounting accessories, such as a limit switchbox, and are free from all silicon greases.  All actuators meet the ISO5211 and DIN-3337 specifications to make installation to valves quick and easy.

What is a Pneumatic Actuated Valve?

Actuated valves are operated using a pneumatic actuator that automatically opens and/or closes a valve without the need for someone to go over and turn the valve.  This is especially useful when the valves are in an awkward place to operate or get to.

The Haitima pneumatic actuator is a rack and pinion style of actuator that operates through 90 degrees when air is applied to the ports.

How does the pneumatic Actuator work?

A pneumatic (or air) actuators has 2 ports, 1 for open and 1 for close.  The actuator is designed so that when air applied to the open port the pistons are pushed away from the pinion, towards the end caps, and the teeth on the pistons turn the cam on the piston to open the valve (Normally Anti-clockwise).  When the air is applied to the close port the pistons are pushed back towards the pinion which the closes the valve (normally clockwise).  When the valve is single acting the close cycle is powered by springs so to give a fail close operation should there be loss of air due to a compressor failure our power cut.

What pressure air is required to operate the actuators?

We generally size up the actuators using 6 bar air pressure, but we can supply for air pressures between 4 and 8 bar..
